Welcome Worship Prayer Music Missions Fellowship Youth Children Preschool Church Usage Policies History |
![]() Our first home, built in 1870, was a one-room building heated by a wood stove. We shared a devoted pastor with two other churches, a frequent practice in those days. The growth of our membership prompted the design and construction of a beautiful new church building near the original one in 1921. Dim gas lights were replaced by electric ones and traditional oak pews were installed in the sanctuary. ![]() In 1947 we became a "Station Church" and proudly supported our own full time pastor. The 1950s were a period of unprecedented growth, during which the church increased its mission involvement and launched sponsorship of many activities.
As a result of a fire in 1957, Ashton Methodist Church moved to its
current location and erected the sanctuary we use today. In 1962 an education wing was added, and the newest addtiion
was completed in 2004.Through the 1970s and to the present day, Ashton United Methodist Church has continued to grow both in terms of our congregation, as well as our ministries. We move into the 21st century with the commitment to expand our spiritual growth and our connection to the communities around us. |
