Ashton Christian Preschool offers many options to parents and children.
Our educational programs are designed for 2½ and 3 year old preschoolers, as well as 4 year old Pre-Kindergarten
children. We offer half day programs that meet from 9:15 to 11:45 am and full day programs that meet from 9:15 am to
2:00 pm. Children can attend 2, 3, or 4 days each week. In addition to these school hours it is possible for half
day students to stay for the afternoon on an occasional basis. While these opportunities allow parents to pick just
the right program for their child, they can extend the child’s participation in the educational setting as the need
arises. Our Preschool is licensed by the Maryland Department of Human Resource, Child Care Administration. Our program
is designed to nurture the development of each child a a unique and special individual created in the image of God.
Through interaction with others, children learn to express their ideas and respect themselves while building self-
esteem and social skills.Every aspect of our program is geared toward developing an environment where children are encouraged to explore, problem solve, discover, and practice newly emerging skills. Our goal is to create a special environment of unconditional love, support and respect for the children. Our activities include science, language arts, mathematical concepts, arts and crafts, music and movement, small and large motor development, sensory and dramatic play, simple cooking, and field trips to the community to explore the world around us.  As a church school, we tend to the spiritual needs of our children through song, Bible stories, prayer before snack, Chapel time, and Christian values with one of our Pastors. Ashton Christian Preschool is a non-profit, non-denominational Preschool which believes that all children are gifts from God. We welcome all children regardless of race, sex, religion or national origin. The preschool was stablished as a mission over 35 years ago by Ashton United Methodist Church. All of our preschool staff are very experienced in the field of early childhood education as well as being certified in CPR and First Aid. Our Director/Teacher, Mary Landsman, has a degree in Early Childhood Education with the University of Maryland, is certified by the State Department of Education, and has over 20 years experience in teaching and directing preschool programs.
