Ashton UMC (Ashton, MD) is seeking a vocalist for worship. The vocalist, accompanied by a musician, will generally prepare and sing 2 songs plus a doxology (short hymn of praise repeated every week). Styles of music will include hymns and may include more contemporary praise songs, gospel, etc. The vocalist can select these with the musician in consultation with the pastor. The vocalist will help engage the congregation in worship through music during the pandemic while there is no congregational singing nor choir singing. We anticipate this position will continue into spring. 

 

Worship is at 9:30am on Sunday mornings- one service. The musician and singer should also plan to practice together on Sunday mornings. There may be a few other special services throughout the year, such as Christmas Eve or Good Friday. 

 

Ashton UMC takes COVID-19 precautions very seriously. Masks are required for everyone in worship. Candidates for this position must be vaccinated.

 

Priority will be given to candidates who can make a weekly commitment, but we are also willing to consider a rotation of vocalists.

 

Compensation is competitive with comparable positions.
